I'm afraid I have put off doing this week's blog as long as I could as I do not enjoy writing the very last blog of the school year, and acknowledging the fact that my wonderful class will soon belong to someone else.
Yes...here it is! The very last week. But hey! What a great one!
We begin the week with our annual trip to Gulliver's World. We will be returning before the end of the school day so please collect your child as normal from the classroom door. I'm sure we will have a great time!
The rest of the week is pretty normal. Mmm...not a word I often use for the Foundation Stage.
Some time this week the children will spend a little time with Mrs Worrall as part of their transition into Year 1. Mrs Worrall will be posting activities for the children over the summer holidays so they hit to ground running in September. The link is http://year1weeklyupdate.blogspot.com
I too will be sending home a pack of information to keep the momentuum going as you'd be surprised how much the children forget if they don't practice their high frequency words over the holidays.
On Thursday, the children can bring in a toy for toy day.
And Friday...I think we all know what happens on Friday. This year is particularly hard as the Year 6 that are leaving us were my very first class at St Vincent's. Kleenex are going to see profits rise this week!
Finally, a huge THANKYOU to you! You've been great parents. Your support has been of unquantifiable value.
Have a great summer and see you in September.

On your marks, get set, GO!!
Hi there!
Welcome to this week’s blog.
There are only two weeks left before our children are leaving us. This is a very sad time for us, but one nevertheless to celebrate the achievements of our fabulous children. You should all have received the date and time of the parents’ evening. Please be aware that they are only ten minutes slots as they are simply to explain how your child has done in comparison to the Early Learning Goals and if they will require any additional support next year.
The reports are ready to go out but we are just waiting for the arrival of the Year 6 SATs results before we send them out. Don’t worry, your child’s first school report is definitely worth waiting for. Enclosed with the report is a feedback sheet for you to complete. We really do appreciate these as we keep them in a scrap book with photographs of the children to look back on in years to come. In fact, I found some of our present year six children lately.
This week is very much the same as last week in that we will be continuing looking at addition and subtraction, and completing our transition unit on Differences. Please look at previous blogs for websites to support the addition and subtraction.
This week, I will also be testing high frequency words. Please continue to work on these at home. They are vital to your child’s reading and writing development. For those children past the reception words I will be going over them again just to check their retention.
Sports Day
Sports Day is on Tuesday at 1.30pm. I’d get there for about 1.15pm. If the weather is bad then we have the Thursday as the reserve. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not come over to your child during the sports day. There is an allocated time when this is okay but as you can appreciate, so many children and adults outside is a security issue and stressed out teachers at this time of year is not good. Your child will be provided with a drink and snack during the event. Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school on Monday and their pumps fit. Thanks.
Gulliver's World
Next Monday, we have our annual trip to Gulliver’s World to end our great year. Please make sure that you have returned the permission slip, as we will not be able to take your child if we do not have it. Thanks. Details regarding the day will be sent out to you this week.
Finally, the annual school BBQ is on Friday. It starts at 6pm and is well worth coming to even if it rains. Tickets are available from the Friends of St Vincent’s.
I think that is all for now.
Have a great week and see you at parents’ evening.
